The OCN team recently embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Sandwich Harbour, one of Namibia’s most stunning coastal spots. Known for its majestic dunes cascading into the ocean, this picturesque location set the stage for a life-saving mission. After receiving reports of a stranded Humpback whale, the team, along with the Namibian Dolphin Project, rushed to the scene.

The whale, still alive but in distress, needed immediate help. The team carefully maneuvered ropes to guide the whale back toward the ocean. It was a tense situation, requiring precision and teamwork to avoid injury. Despite the odds, they managed to push the whale into the sea, a truly remarkable achievement.

As the whale started kicking vigorously, signaling his return to the ocean, the team felt a surge of relief and joy. Although many rescues don’t end this way, this one did, and the whale swam off into the deep blue.

The journey back through the dunes was another adventure altogether, but the team’s spirits were high, energized by the successful rescue and the beauty of nature’s roaring dunes. What a day!
